Questions
Do I need a new phone number?
No. You keep your number and forward the calls you don't answer to Adam. You can also give out Adam's number directly, for example as your after-hours line.
Will callers know they're talking to an AI?
Yes. Every call starts with "this is Adam, an AI assistant" and a recording notice. Some states have rules about telling callers they're talking to a bot, and being upfront is simpler. The line can't be turned off.
Is it legal to record the calls?
Adam tells every caller the call is recorded and transcribed before the conversation starts. That notice helps in states that require everyone on the call to know, but it isn't legal advice, and you're responsible for following the rules where you operate. Transcripts are deleted from your dashboard after 90 days.
Why doesn't Adam put urgent calls through?
Your phone forwards missed calls to Adam, so a transfer would bounce straight back. Instead your phone gets an urgent alert and the ticket arrives with URGENT in the subject and a button to call back. Fire, injuries or a gas smell: Adam tells the caller to call 911.
Can it book appointments?
It takes the request and the time the caller wants, and your team confirms. If you have an online booking link, Adam can point callers to it.
How fast is setup?
Usually within 24 hours. You get a test number to call yourself before you forward anything.
What if I go over my minutes?
Adam keeps answering at $0.20 a minute and we email you at 80% and 100%. At twice your minutes we pause Adam and email you, so a robocall storm can't run up your bill.
Can Adam handle medical or healthcare calls?
Not yet. Healthcare calls involve protected health information, which needs safeguards we don't offer today.
